A certain amount of sweating is normal and helps us to cool down when we’re too hot. However, sometimes the body produces more sweat than it needs to. This is called hyperhidrosis. We understand the impact this condition can have on everyday life, which is why we can offer Botox™ treatment to help reduce excessive sweating.
How is the procedure done?
Botox injections are a safe and effective way to reduce sweating. They work by blocking a chemical in your body that stimulates the sweat glands. Dr Tara Kidd may use a local anaesthetic cream or injection to numb your skin before giving you several injections into the treatment are using a fine needle. The treated area may be a bit sensitive and sore after the injections.
Please note you need to over 18 years old for this treatment.
After the treatment
Usually the treatment starts to work in the first week and lasts for around 4 to 7 months, depending on the severity of your condition and the dose given to you. Once the treatment has stopped working, you’ll need to have the injections again.
